"Building on my event promotion experience and sound engineering experience, weddings and events interested me as there are so many moving parts that just a Watching the crowd / client have an absolute great time makes everything worthwhile."

"Recent outdoor wedding, the entire night had been high energy, as we prepared to end the night the brides’ nephew came to the booth SO interested in the gear. I picked him up and finished the night with him touching the equipment. Her niece stopped and begged for one more song, I asked for her favorite song. It was “Let It Go” so I put it on (Even though we had played last song) and everyone sang as she danced. The mother snapped a photo. A picture that I cherish, as it shows such a smile on the face of the bride."

His most creative gig?

"Star Wars Themed Wedding at Table Rock. Everyone dressed as their favorite character complete with light sabers."

Getting to Know BellaRose Atelier

Can you share the story behind BellaRose Atelier and what sparked your love for creating stunning floral designs for weddings and events?

After practicing law for more than 30 years, I decided to pivot to floral design a few years ago. I had been arranging altar flowers for my church for many years and found that it was something I could do well, as it allowed me to express myself creatively and

indulge my passion for flowers. When I created the flowers for my daughter-in-law’s wedding a couple of years ago, she looked at me as she was leaving and said, “You made it just like I dreamed it would be.” That did it – I was hooked and have been ever

since.

Since that time, I completed floral design training with the New York Institute of Floral Design as well as the North Carolina State Florists Association. I am a certified designer by the Association and also certified as a designer of Garden Roses by Alexander Farms.

What got you excited about specializing in floral artistry for special occasions, and what keeps your creative juices flowing for each couple’s big day?

I love floral design for weddings simply because each wedding is different, and each couple’s vision of what they want their wedding flowers to look like is unique and special. It is exciting to talk with a bride about her ideas and make them come to life. Watching her eyes light up when I hand over her bouquet is such a joyful moment, and I feel so lucky to get to do something that special.

Floral design for events is, quite simply, great fun. I get to work with a theme, different color schemes, and try to come up with unique and creative floral designs that can be edgy, trendy, and different, as well as more traditional arrangements.

What makes BellaRose a unique gem among floral services in the Greenville, SC area?

First and foremost, I am primarily focused on weddings and a variety of events (from gallery openings to banquets to tribute and sympathy arrangements to church flowers). You won’t find cookie-cutter arrangements for weddings and events on my website. What you will see is a variety of one-of-a-kind pieces that are customized to the occasion and the specifications of my clients.

Who’s on the BellaRose Atelier team, and how do they help turn a wedding into a fairytale?

I consider the most important person on my team for a wedding to be my client, which is sometimes the bride, sometimes the couple together, and sometimes a mother or other family member. Their vision for what they want is where the process starts and where it ends. I am the sole designer, and for smaller events, I do all the design work and installation myself. For larger events and for events on a very tight “day of” schedule, I have several folks who help me on a contract basis, particularly with delivery and set up, including hanging greenery or floral chandeliers and setting up multiple arrangements for receptions. I typically don’t do more than one wedding or event per weekend so that I can give each event the personal attention it deserves.

What is a fun or unexpected tidbit about BellaRose Atelier that might surprise couples planning a wedding?

Since BellaRose is really “me,” I don’t think you will find many floral designers who have had successful careers as both a registered nurse and director of nursing, and a trial lawyer. This is my third career, and ironically, I’ve been able to apply many of the skills I developed in those ventures to wedding planning, from organization to patience to “calming troubled waters” when the unexpected happens.

The Floral Design Experience

What can couples expect when they team up with BellaRose Atelier for their wedding florals at The Venue at Cherokee Valley?

Personalized, individualized service at a familiar venue where we have worked together and already know what works well for the space. It’s a very coordinated process that makes things go smoothly and ensures that the wedding will exceed all expectations.

How do you collaborate with couples to create floral arrangements that complement their wedding theme or personal style?

My process typically starts with a Zoom call in which I get basic information, find out their ideas, their budget, and get any Pinterest or mood board pictures they have put together, and generally talk about the vibe they are trying to create for their wedding. Following that call, I do a formal proposal, with sample pictures and an itemized statement, so they know the cost of each item they have requested. We tweak as we go along and make changes as requested right up until the time the flowers are ordered from the wholesaler or flower farm.

I also ask for a picture of the bride’s dress, which is very helpful in designing her bouquet. I have never done exactly the same bouquet twice, and I try to make each one special to each bride, so that each bride has a bouquet specially customized for her.

What’s the most thrilling part for you when you see your floral creations come to life at a wedding?

That one is easy – seeing the joy and happiness in the bride’s face when she sees her bouquet or other arrangements for the first time.

Can you take us behind the scenes of how you select flowers and craft those gorgeous arrangements for a wedding?

It all starts with planning and taking the final design (whether a sketch or picture) and breaking it down into a stem and flower count. To keep costs down, I then go shopping for the best deal on the chosen flowers (sometimes a wholesaler locally, sometimes one in Charlotte, sometimes a direct shipment from Miami, sometimes a local flower farm, and occasionally a few stems from my own small garden. Freshness matters, and color is very important, both the colors chosen for the wedding and the nuances in color that naturally occur in flowers. We are so lucky to be able to get most of the most requested flowers for weddings any time of year – the primary difference being the cost (which can vary widely for flowers that are not in season locally). For couples on a budget but with initial choices of very expensive flowers, I try to suggest alternatives that have the same look and feel but are not so expensive.

What do you love most about bringing your floral magic to weddings at The Venue at Cherokee Valley?

The venue itself is truly lovely and has a formal “Old South” feeling where romantic, garden-like arrangements look right at home. In addition, all the venue staff are professional and accomplished in their roles. They are easy to work with as a team and, as you might suspect, our mutual clients reap the benefits of that teamwork.

How do you use the venue’s beautiful landscapes – like the outdoor spaces to enhance your floral setups?

First, the entire setting is bucolic, quiet, and pastoral. It generates a feeling that you are at a destination wedding (without the expense and burden on guests of traveling to some far-off and hard-to-reach place). Off the back porch, viewing the landscaped course, the mountains, and a beautiful sunset at the golden hour, is just the perfect time to show off outdoor arrangements, floral arches, and other décor. The natural setting and lush greenery enhance virtually any color scheme of flowers chosen by the couple and any style of floral decor – from modern geometric design elements to full, romantic maximalist garden arrangements.

Trends and Tips

What floral trends are you noticing for weddings that couples should consider for their day?

Grounded arches are gaining popularity for ceremonies. They are installed in sections and can easily be moved to the reception area in front of a sweetheart table or other strategic location, doing double duty and increasing their utility. I always encourage my clients to think about flowers that serve more than one purpose – for example, a circle of bridesmaids’ bouquets can be beautiful around a wedding cake. In season, aisle flowers of living ferns studded with florals can be taken home by family and friends, and the fern can be enjoyed on the porch or patio for months after the wedding.

Simple table arrangements for receptions, sometimes single flowers in a multitude of small vases, that look as if they were picked from a family garden, are popular, and there seems to be a trend away from large elevated arrangements on each table.

Blue and white is very popular. I probably have more requests for weddings using a blue and white color scheme than any other color scheme. That trend has been around for a while, but it doesn’t seem to be fading. The second most often requested scheme is the use of a rainbow of pastels, particularly for spring and early summer weddings.

Budgetary concerns – like everything else, flowers are getting more expensive to purchase, particularly from Latin American growers subject to tariffs. This trend, along with a trend toward eco-friendly florals, is leading many brides to simplify their floral needs.

For personal florals, pocket squares continue their rise in popularity vs. traditional boutonnieres. Hand-tied bouquets remain very popular, but small wired clusters of just a few flowers – all with symbolic meanings (think Princess Kate’s lily of the valley, sweet myrtle, and hyacinth petite bouquet), which have been popular in Europe, are gaining in popularity in the US. For flower girls, alternatives to tossing petals include flower girl wands of baby’s breath and studded with small flowers, mini bouquets, and carrying small floral circular or heart shaped wreaths of flowers.

What advice would you give to couples thinking about adding floral designs to their wedding?

First, decide what is most important in terms of the florals you would like. Typically, that’s the personal flowers. Consider making them very personal and unique to your wedding – adding your favorite flower or a tribute flower for a loved one who cannot be with you. Walk through a botanical garden and think about the flowers you are drawn to, those that arouse an emotional response, that make you feel happy, that have a smell you like, or that remind you of pleasant memories. This will make your personal wedding flowers like no one else’s anywhere and be custom-made to enhance your wedding.

For other floral décor, keep it consistent with the overall feeling of your wedding and your personality. Consistency in theme and large groupings of a single color have the biggest impact and generally tend to be more cost-effective than a cornucopia of flowers and colors.

What’s one often-overlooked aspect of wedding florals that can transform the event?

Probably the most common overlooked thing is the ability to make multiple uses of arrangements for both the ceremony and the reception. After all, the ceremony often lasts a few minutes, and the rest of the evening is spent at the reception, while some of the more expensive arrangements (dramatic arches, pew flowers, etc.) sit forlorn and lonely while the party moves on to eating, drinking, and dancing at the reception. With a little preplanning, it’s easy to remove arrangements from the ceremony to the reception area and get the full value of your floral displays.

Fun and Personal Questions

Got a favorite memory from a wedding where your floral designs turned heads and melted hearts?

This was a wedding I did, where we wrapped all the timbers in a log venue with smilax vine and twinkling fairy lights – it was magical.

What’s the most out-of-the-box floral setup you’ve ever created for a couple?

A wedding where all (and I mean each and every one) of the florals were baby’s breath – from the broken arch, to the ceremony vases, to the bridesmaid bouquets, and the reception dining tables. It was breathtaking and reinforced my view on using masses of one flower for dramatic impact.

If you could dream up the ultimate floral setup inspired by The Venue at Cherokee Valley, what would it look like?

I would use the outside tent area and over the outside posts in smilax and run tree branches up the inside posts to create a garden-like arbor overlooking the course and the mountains beyond, with a floral arch on both sides (entering and leaving the tent).

If it were an inside event, I would drape the porches in garlands (florals based on season) and use florals on every table with a matching garland for the sweetheart table and the bar.

If it were winter, a winter wonderland theme would be magical inside with white tree branches and lights, and liberal use of white roses in silver containers.

What do you love doing when you’re not arranging blooms or dazzling wedding guests?

Hanging out with my family and my new baby granddaughter. Traveling, working in my herb garden, and just being outdoors anywhere (giving the ocean and the mountains equal billing).

Absolutely. Setup starts well before the event. I prep and test everything, from lighting to layout, to designing custom filters, then running test shoots with the backdrop choice and making test prints to be sure all the colors are coming out looking great together. At the venue, I arrive early and test everything again on the day of, to make sure the evening runs flawlessly. During the event, I stay on hand to troubleshoot, guide guests, and make sure the whole experience is engaging, smooth, and fun.

I’ve always been drawn to things that are hands-on, creative, and a little offbeat—it’s where I recharge and find inspiration.

We sat down with David Revels , the owner of Upstate Event Services, to learn more about his journey, his process, and why his team loves working with us here at Cherokee Valley. Let’s dive in!

The Heart of Upstate Event Services.

Tell us about Upstate Event Services and how you got started in the event rental industry.

David Revels: We started Upstate Event Services in 2005 as an offshoot of our catering company. We were involved in 10-15 events a week and required rentals for many of these events. We had already purchased some tables, china, glassware, and flatware, but we wanted to have a dedicated crew to handle the setup part of the event. A small rental company came up for sale, which we were able to purchase. This growth was sufficient to warrant the separation of the rental division into its own company. By 2008, we sold the catering division and concentrated on becoming the best rental company in the area.

What inspired you to focus on rentals for weddings and events, and what keeps you passionate about it?

David Revels: I have the best job in the world!! When it comes to weddings, we get involved with clients at the happiest time of their lives. Our job is to bring their vision to life and ensure they are satisfied. Weddings, birthday parties, graduations, and retirement events are milestones in families’ lives. It is great to see these families celebrating. We have now been in business long enough for the children of our early clients to come in and design their weddings. Over the years, I have had many clients who have become great friends. Placing your order doesn’t stop the relationship.

What makes Upstate Event Services stand out in the Greenville area?

David Revels: By starting in the wedding industry as a catering company, we have gained a working knowledge of the behind-the-scenes aspects of events and can offer suggestions that make the experience seamless. We rent with a working understanding of what the caterer needs to have a successful event. I also hold a degree in Design and Set Production for Theatre, so I view every event as a theatrical production. I can picture in my head how things are going to look, feel, and do a good job of explaining that to our clients. Additionally, although we have been in business for 20 years, we remain small enough to ensure that your event receives top priority on your special day.

Who’s the team behind the magic?

David Revels: We start with our office manager, Amanda Eubanks. Amanda has been with us for seven years and has a background in catering and hospitality that spans 10 years, before joining our team. She is the first step in the planning process, gathering information as to what you are looking for in the rental process. She is also familiar with many of the venues in the area and can provide valuable feedback to the client on how the venue operates. Jason Hathcox is our transportation director. Jason has been with me since 2002, when we were still catering. He possesses extensive knowledge and numerous years of experience in setup procedures. Jason has set up thousands of tents and has done most of the fabric hanging we have done over the years. Jonathan Morgan is our Warehouse Manager and has been with us for 10 years. He is responsible for everything that comes out of our warehouse, including quality, cleanliness, and repairs. Each item, from the smallest fork and spoon to the napkin, is inspected before being sent out. Patty Revels is the personality behind the operation. Patty handles our purchasing and identifies new trends, keeping our inventory fresh and up-to-date. She is also involved in taking orders, meeting with new clients, and planning events. She has been in the event industry for over 30 years and brings a wealth of knowledge as to what is possible with an event.

What can couples expect when they book with you for a wedding at The Venue at Cherokee Valley?

David Revels: We are very familiar with The Venue at Cherokee Valley and can help to build a unique event with one of the premier locations in the Upstate.

How do you help couples select the right rentals that align with their vision?

David Revels: In our showroom or on our website, we offer samples of our tables, chairs, linens, and more to help our clients bring their vision to life. We encourage our clients to come to our showroom and play “table” with us to put everything together for just the right look. We have wedding coordinators who meet with their clients here specifically for this purpose. Our entire inventory is available to touch and feel as we set up your items for approval.

What’s your favorite part about seeing a venue transform with your rentals?

David Revels: It is so gratifying to work on an event from conception through completion and see the event come to life. As a staff, we take pride in an event that comes together and exceeds the client’s initial vision.

How do you ensure your rentals are top-notch?

David Revels: One of the hardest things about purchasing for our business is ensuring we can replicate the items we have. We buy 12 of something for an event, and the next client needs 15!! We continually purchase and replenish our inventory. Once it is in our inventory, an item will be touched by our staff a minimum of 7 times between rentals. We pull the item for the order (1), driver checks the item before loading the truck (2), driver counts the items off the truck to the client or the venue (3), driver picks up the item and counts it to the truck inspecting for damage (4), warehouse receives items off the truck to clean and repair (5), item is cleaned by warehouse staff (6), warehouse checks off items to be returned to inventory (7). Repeat for the next fabulous event!!

David Revels: Working at Cherokee Valley is such a pleasure. Being organized as a Venue makes our job so much easier. They have an attention to detail and are proactive with us in delivering early and making plans to review the event early in the process. The landscaping at The Venue at Cherokee Valley is impressive, making the events truly stand out. We can add to it, but the spaces we have set up are already beautiful.

Trends and Tips for 2025 Weddings

What rental trends are you seeing for 2025?

David Revels: Muted colors, pastels are in this year—greens like sage and clover, yellows like buttercup, and purples in the claret and lilac palette. Gold accents are still big, but starting to be replaced with more vintage items.

Any advice for couples considering rentals?

David Revels: Contact us and let us put together a quote that includes everything you can think of, covering the largest number of guests on your guest list. Go for it all! Then, examine this and make rational decisions about what fits within the budget. Removing chargers from a tablescape can drop the cost of a wedding of 100 by over $500.00. Small changes can put the budget back into view, but you may want to see it all first.

What’s one often-overlooked detail that makes a significant impact?

David Revels: Lighting makes a big statement. From uplights around a room to chandeliers hung from a tree, lighting can truly make an event.

Fun and Personal Touches

What’s the most unique rental setup you’ve ever done?

David Revels: Setting up a tent inside a gym, providing an outdoor feel with air conditioning!!

If you could design a dream setup at Cherokee Valley, what would it look like?

David Revels: We love setting up tents in the back patio area and look forward to installing a canopy over the stage for a live band sometime soon, complete with colorful umbrellas over tables for a spring wedding.

When you’re not working events, how do you unwind?

David Revels: Patty and I spend our downtime cooking, enjoying friends and family, and spoiling our dog, Sheldon. Patty enjoys a good book, and during football season, David can be found at a game or in front of a TV somewhere with friends watching the game.

Jen: Oh, it’s a wild story! I graduated with a media degree in 2015 and was just hunting for any job I could find. I knew I loved videography but wasn’t sure where it’d take me. I reached out to a videographer buddy asking about openings, and lucky me, he was working for a wedding company that needed help. I jumped in with zero clue about shooting weddings, but I fell head over heels for every part of it—the chaos, the love, the tears! I stuck with that company for about five years, but I craved a deeper connection with couples, so I launched Weaver Wedding Films in 2021. Fast forward four years, and we’ve rebranded to Weaver Films + Photography. That shift came as we added photography—thanks to Kayla stepping up—and now we offer both services that complement each other perfectly. Somewhere along the way, I dragged Kayla into this crazy wedding world, and now we’re the ultimate dream team!

What got you hooked on wedding films, and what keeps you passionate about capturing love stories?

Kayla: We’re suckers for those real, emotional moments—the big, epic ones and the quiet, intimate ones that give you goosebumps. Weddings are packed with those unscripted vibes, like stolen glances or the way someone’s voice shakes during vows. We connect with couples who love good cinematics and fine art, and that’s what keeps us coming back. Turning something so personal into a cinematic film and photos that still feel authentic never gets old—it’s like bottling up their love story for them to relive forever.

Jen: Our secret sauce is all about storytelling and connection. Kayla: At the core, it’s me and Jen—Jen’s the lead videographer and photographer, and I’m the lead photographer and videographer. When we’re doing both services, we bring in our trusty seconds, John and Brock, who are our go-to guys. We also have a few other rockstars we trust to step in if we can’t make it. Everyone on our team knows our style and expectations, so clients get that same Weaver magic no matter who’s there. We handle all the communication and editing ourselves, ensuring that signature quality and style our couples adore shines through every time.

What’s a fun or unique fact about Weaver Films + Photography that couples might not know?

Jen: Oh, this is a good one! Our two dachshunds, Mylie and Luke Skywalker, are basically our unofficial mascots. We love when they can hang out and become besties with our couples—nothing says “love story” like a pup connection! And when it’s editing time, we get cozy with mushroom coffee, light some scented candles, and hunt for the perfect music to turn your day into a masterpiece. It’s our little ritual!

If you’re goofy or full of energy, we roll with it and have a blast. Kayla: Oh, we live for the in-between moments! That’s why getting to know you two and what matters most to you is key—it becomes our focus. When we edit, we make sure those gems make the cut. Some of our faves? Little side chats, hugs, or glances with your favorite people. Especially if you’re surprising your mom with a bouquet dedication—we’ve got a camera locked on her face to catch that reaction (and those tears!).

Can you walk us through your process from filming to delivering the final wedding film and photos, including any special touches?

Jen: It all starts with getting to know you and plotting out your wedding day game plan. Then we soak in the day with you, watching for those key moments and people to shine. Back home, we upload and back up everything—cameras, drone, audio—onto multiple hard drives and the cloud. While it’s fresh in our minds, we listen to music, blending your preferences with the feel of your day to find the perfect soundtrack. If we shoot photos, we edit a few and send them right away—no waiting for cell phone pics to hit social media! When your galleries are done, we deliver them in a gorgeous online gallery. Plus, we ask you to film your reaction to your highlight film—sometimes we share those on social media (with your okay!), but if you want it private, that’s cool too. We’ve been living your day for months, and we can’t wait for you to relive it!

Jen: The open space is a drone footage paradise! Those unprecedented mountain views are a dream, and having the dance floor outside gives us endless creative opportunities. We can’t get enough of the possibilities here.

What are some of the biggest wedding videography and photography trends you’re seeing for 2025?

Kayla: Shorter edits of amazing moments are definitely trending. We’re loving creating reels that capture those standout moments perfectly—quick, punchy, and full of heart.

What advice would you give to couples considering hiring a wedding videographer or photographer?

Jen: Find a team whose work makes you feel something! You’ve got to vibe with us—we’ll be by your side all day, so it’s gotta feel right. And don’t wait to book—our calendar fills up fast, and we only take on a limited number of weddings each year.

What’s one detail about wedding videography or photography that couples often overlook but can make a big impact?

Kayla: Quality audio makes a huge difference in your film. We don’t mic you up all day, but we’ve got secondary audio on our cameras. If we catch something amazing—like a sweet vow or a funny moment—we can include it because we’ve got the sound to match!

Can you share one of your favorite stories from a wedding you’ve filmed?

Jen: Oh, we’ve got a good one! A couple of years back, we worked with an amazing couple we’re still friends with—they asked to have the cross removed from Pretty Place, which gave us some rare, unique footage since that iconic cross is usually front and center. The next day, we drove all the way to Murrell’s Inlet for a wedding at Atalaya Castle—ceremony on the beach, reception in the castle with hula dancers! We partied with the wedding party into the morning. Then there was that Sanibel Island destination wedding where I jumped on the drumset at the after-party dive bar and rocked out. I’ve even surprised a bride at a local venue by jamming to ‘All the Small Things’ by Blink 182 with the band—if there’s a live drummer who’s cool with it, I’m there!

What’s the most unique or creative wedding film or photo set you’ve ever created?

Kayla: Every film and photo set is unique, but some standouts include a couple jumping into a pool fully clothed (with underwater shots!), a bride in a black wedding dress, and couples who get adventurous with us—letting us toss them in the air under the drone, running in heels, or taking midnight boat rides. We’ve also filmed full-on fire shows and hula performances—talk about epic!

Jen: Picture this: a golden hour ceremony up on the hill, drone shots sweeping across the mountains, a private last dance under string lights, and an emotional voiceover woven throughout. When you’re not filming weddings, how do you like to spend your time?

Kayla: We’re total homebodies sometimes—bingeing ‘Young Sheldon’ and ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ right now. But we also love taking our dachshunds, Mylie and Luke Skywalker, on weenie walks, hitting the gym, doing yoga, hiking, paddleboarding, and cooking up amazing vegan, gluten-free dishes. Rosina: Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I started my journey in portrait photography but was utterly hooked after capturing my first wedding. There’s something so special about documenting a couple’s love story and preserving those once-in-a-lifetime moments. Weddings are a beautiful blend of emotion, artistry, and storytelling, which is why I love what I do. Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible couples, and each wedding feels like a new adventure.

What’s your photography style, and how do you approach capturing a wedding day?

Rosina: My style is a mix of timeless elegance and documentary storytelling. I always say that my style is my client’s style—after 25 years in the business, I’ve worked with various brides and love adapting to their unique vision. Every wedding is a different story and palette for me to create something beautiful. I focus on capturing the day as it unfolds naturally, balancing candid moments and gently guided poses to ensure the images feel authentic and timeless.

What do you love most about photographing weddings?

Rosina: I love the energy, the raw emotions, and the unique personalities that shine through on a wedding day. Every couple has a different love story, and being entrusted with capturing those genuine moments—whether it’s the groom’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time or the joyous celebration on the dance floor—makes wedding photography so fulfilling. It’s an honor to be part of such a special day.

Also, trust your photographer! The best photos happen when couples let go and focus on each other rather than the camera. Just be in the moment, and I’ll take care of the rest.

What moments do you always make sure to capture on a wedding day?

Rosina: Every wedding is unique, but there are a few must-have moments I always prioritize: the first look (if the couple chooses to do one), emotional reactions during the ceremony, the little in-between moments like tears, laughter, and stolen glances, beautiful bridal portraits, candid guest interactions, the energy of the reception, and the sparkler exit. Those are the moments that tell the whole story of the day.

Denise: One Fine Day is all about creating unforgettable moments for our couples—we offer a variety of coordination and planning packages, along with simple floral design, grazing tables, and officiant services. I’ve been in the wedding industry for over eight years and love every second. It all started when I was working at a wedding venue and got to dabble in every part of the planning process. I fell head over heels for the industry and knew I wanted to start my own company. One Sunday at the family dinner table, I just blurted out that I was giving my notice and jumping in the deep end to start One Fine Day—and here we are!

What inspired you to start One Fine Day, and what keeps you passionate about weddings?

Denise: It was a mix of passion and a little divine timing. I’d been thinking about starting my own planning company, and I asked God to show me signs if it was the right path. At the time, my son was heading to college, my daughter was planning her wedding, and financially, it seemed like a crazy leap—but I felt it in my gut. What keeps me passionate is the relationships we build with our clients. This isn’t just a job for us—it’s about celebrating life’s most significant milestones with people who become like family. I love seeing the joy on a couple’s face when everything comes together perfectly on their big day.

What’s a fun or unique fact about One Fine Day that people might not know?

Denise: One Fine Day was named after a song! Growing up, my dad and I danced to “One Fine Day” by The Chiffons. He’s no longer with us, but naming my business after that song feels like a little piece of him is with me on this daily journey. I wanted the name to have meaning, represent all kinds of events—not just weddings—and remind us that every celebration should be one fine day!

Denise: There are so many talented planners in the Upstate, but what makes us different is that One Fine Day is a relationship, not just a service. We make ourselves available to our clients 24/7—this is more than a transaction; we genuinely become part of their family. We customize every step of the planning process to fit each couple’s wants and needs. We don’t put our clients in a box—we’re there to serve and ensure their day is exactly what they’ve dreamed of.

Can you tell us about your team and how you ensure a great experience for couples?

Denise: We’re a team of seven extraordinary ladies—three lead planners and four assistants. We provide a lead planner and an assistant for every event, no matter the size, to ensure top-notch customer service. Each team member brings their strengths, but we’re all trained and educated to provide the couple, venue, vendors, and guests have a wonderful experience. We’re there to make everything run smoothly and keep the day stress-free for everyone involved.

How do you work with couples to bring their wedding vision to life?

Denise: We start with a consultation to ensure we’re a good fit for the couple. Once they join the One Fine Day family, we have planning meetings to educate them on the process while learning about their vision, wants, and needs. We recommend vendors that fit their budget and style, create a custom timeline, and build a floor plan to maximize the venue space. We’re there for vendor meetings, tastings, and anything they need. We aim to provide an excellent experience, so the couple feels at ease—this is a massive milestone in their lives, and we want them to enjoy every moment.

Trends and Tips for 2025 Weddings

What are some of the biggest design trends for 2025 weddings?

Denise: We see vibrant colors, photo booths, textured and printed linens, live painters, and bows everywhere! Wedding cakes are getting more straightforward, and dessert bars are becoming a big trend. I’m a true Southern girl, so I love the bows—they add such a fun, celebratory vibe. And the bright colors? They make the day feel so joyful and unique!

What about wedding planning trends for 2025? Are couples approaching planning differently?

Denise: Definitely! We’re seeing a lot of working brides and couples who don’t have as much time to focus on planning as in years past. Because of that, we’re doing more partial and complete planning—offering proposals for ideas, setups, and more. Couples trust our expertise more, which I love because it lets us take the reins and make the process easier.

What’s the #1 tip you’d give to couples just starting their wedding planning journey?

Denise: Have a budget! It’s the foundation of everything. We help couples stay on track by conducting monthly check-ins, recommending vendors within their price range, and finding alternatives to their wants if needed. We focus on their top three priorities—everything else is negotiable.

What’s one detail couples often overlook that can significantly impact their wedding day?

Denise: A good DJ! Couples don’t always realize how much a great DJ sets the tone for the entire party. They’re the emcee for the night, keeping guests on the dance floor and ensuring everyone’s having a blast. It’s a vital piece of the puzzle.
