Getting to Know Kestrel Productions
Kestrel Productions has a rich origin story that blends passion for music with a dedication to service. As Tim shares:
"I have been a musician since Jr High School and a Sound Guy since 1993 (worked with several churches and performers). Kestrel began providing AV for nonprofits. During the breaks it was proven that music sets made the event better and more memorable. As my wife would plan her company’s holiday party, I saw that budget pricing did not equate to good service. I began with the idea to offer lower prices with great service."
What drew Tim to wedding and event DJing?
"Building on my event promotion experience and sound engineering experience, weddings and events interested me as there are so many moving parts that just a Watching the crowd / client have an absolute great time makes everything worthwhile."
Standing out in the Greenville, SC area, Kestrel Productions prides itself on customization:
"No two events are approached the same. From the setlists to the timeline, everything is catered to the clients likes AND dislikes."
A fun fact that ties into Tim's background:
"Kestrel is named in honor of my time in the Navy as a member of VFA-137 (The Kestrels). The squadron was a who’s who of squadrons so by using the name I am even more programmed to provide the best service that I can."
The DJ Experience

"There will be at least two zoom calls to plan their day. The couple is welcome to provide their favorite songs, and we will utilize as many as possible throughout the event." Tim's favorite moment? "Seeing the reaction from the couple as they are having the time of their lives."
Preparation ensures the dance floor stays alive:
"Preparation begins by building sets from the couple wish list. I then fill in holes in the sets with popular requests. However, as the night goes on, my set list may need to be tweaked on the fly depending on the energy of the room and guest requests."

"The ambiance of The Venue is Just Fun and absolutely Gorgeous. The staff is probably one of the easiest to work with."

"Honestly, don’t be afraid to be yourself. Make sure that you design the day around your tastes, including music."
His advice for finding the right DJ:
"Talk to multiple DJs. Find the one that matches your personality and not just one that fits your budget. The DJ much like your Photographer will either make or destroy your day." One overlooked detail: "Does their personality and style match your plan?"
Fun and Personal Questions
Tim recalls a heartwarming wedding moment:
"Recent outdoor wedding, the entire night had been high energy, as we prepared to end the night the brides’ nephew came to the booth SO interested in the gear. I picked him up and finished the night with him touching the equipment. Her niece stopped and begged for one more song, I asked for her favorite song. It was “Let It Go” so I put it on (Even though we had played last song) and everyone sang as she danced. The mother snapped a photo. A picture that I cherish, as it shows such a smile on the face of the bride."
His most creative gig?
"Star Wars Themed Wedding at Table Rock. Everyone dressed as their favorite character complete with light sabers."
Off the decks, Tim enjoys:
"Spending time with family, Reading, chilling with a nice Bourbon."
